About Bayhouse Villa
The villa consists of two separate structures. One building contains the living room, ½ bath, kitchen, and indoor dining. A covered outdoor dining terrace connects to the bedroom pavilion.
A gently sloping path leads down to the private beach access.
The living room structure has a large covered terrace with a lounge area where you can enjoy unobstructed 180-degree views of the Caribbean Sea. A couple of steps down are the pool, a pool deck, a reflecting pool, and an outdoor shower.
The bedroom pavilion contains three bedrooms, three baths, and three private terraces.
Tropical climates of around 80 degrees day and night, 365 days a year, and gentle trade winds allow for an open design of Bayhouse Villa, removing the traditional boundaries of indoor and outdoor living.
Modern Tropical Design
“Bayhouse is a fusion of modern design and traditional Caribbean architecture. Featuring a crisp, clean design, the defined edges of the building contrast the softer edges of the surrounding rocks and Virgin Gorda hillside.
In many ways, the house is a series of comparisons, contemporary versus classic, hard versus soft, inside flowing to outside. In combining these contrasting elements, it maintains a relationship with the surroundings and the vernacular, while not being inhibited by these things. The classic and the contemporary are combined in a number of ways; the traditional louvers provide natural ventilation, while large openings create a sense of continuity with the shaded outdoor areas and dramatic views to the seascape beyond. The design also includes features to create passive cooling, reducing the reliance on air-conditioning in this tropical climate.“
